I arrived in Ottawa back in February of last year but it was not until April 20th that I picked up the camera again and did my first photoshoot in Ottawa with Natasha Latendresse. It was a cold bright day with plenty of police walking the area since it 4/20 day but it was a good shoot and it turned out to the first of many that I have done over the past year. I have met some great people in front of the camera and behind the camera, many of whom I now call friends. With each photoshoot, I managed to improve my skills, becoming more accomplished and confident in my abilities. So many thanks to the models who have worked with me. I have produced some great images and I hope that the portfolios of the models I have photographed have benefited from my efforts. Looking forward to another great year in photography
So Lightroom 6 has been released to much initial acclaim. I watched the Kelby webinar on the release and read some of the initial articles on it for the updates and new features. I thought the release would have more substantial tool upgrades for editing. The HDR and Panorama features are nice to have but something I would rarely use. The GPU acceleration is a good thing and which Kelby promotes as THE feature of the release but I have a speedy system now so the differences for my workflow may not be substantial. Some of the tweaks noted like using a brush to remove part of a gradient filter are appreciated. Question for me is whether there is enough enhancements and tweaks on the tools to warrant the upgrade from my standalone version of Lightroom. I use little of the other modules outside of Library and Develop. What is ominous for me is the statement that the standalone version will not receive any enhancements or updated features. Whether that includes bug fixes I have not determined yet. So for the moment, I will wait a bit and wait for more details on the release especially as it pertains to […]
It appears that Lightroom 6 is being bumped to mid-April now according to the latest rumours. Issues with some modules not being ready for release. Hence the release of ACR 8.8 this week to update for recent camera releases so that users will not be kept waiting indefinitely for support for their camera bodies. So I will be waiting … impatiently until then.
Interesting situation resulted in a totally unplanned shoot. Planning to spend a quiet night at the house after a day at the museum when a text came in from April. Apparently she misread the calendar and went ahead and prepped for a cosplay shoot where where she was body painted green and dressed as the SheHulk. However, she a week early on the shoot. Not wanting all of the work to go to waste, she had an open call for anyone to photograph her. I responded and went over to Ice’s place for the impromptu shoot. Improvisation was everything.
Free spirit Nicole was the subject of a recent downtown shoot in Ottawa. We worked the city street and the canal area and produced some great fashion model quality images.
