So here it is, Sunday morning , wet and cold, the first day of March. Can not say we had much of a traditional winter this year. Cold days for sure but very little snow or even rain. It has been a dry winter.
The past few weeks have been quite warm… so warm that the daffodils are now blooming and my trees in the front yard are budding out. The morning air is filled with birdsong .Pretty much a predictor that spring is almost here.
Yet, something very wintry is approaching our way.
One last blast of winter as a major winter storm that started up over the Plain states moves into out area this evening. Original predictions were that we would see one to three inches of snow or wintry mix. We heard that sort of prediction now, I am inclined to cut in half. But last night, they changed the prediction to something on the lines of 3-7 inches now. This was on the basis that more snow fell in such areas as eastern Tennessee and Arkansas that predicted.
Still I have my doubts. Being a coastal state means that our weather is affected by the temperatures off the ocean and right now, that is having a moderating effect on the weather we receive this far inland.
It would be nice to wake up Monday morning and see what the ground looks like. Would we have nice fluffy snow blanketing everything? Would we have little snowmen popping up in out front yard? Whatever we receive tonight or tomorrow, it will disappear by mid week as the temperature warms up.
For once this season, I would like to see the snow fall. I have a little girl who loves the stuff and for her winter would not be the same without snow.
