Wake Forest meets Virginia in a pivotal game
Nov 8th, 2008 | By Brian Leon | Category: Sports, Wake Forest Football
Wake Forest’s season and chances to win a ACC Championship has come down to this game. Win against Virgina and Wake will still be in the hunt for the Atlantic division title. Lose and Wake looks for a bowl game strictly on the lower rungs as far as bowls go like the Humanitarian Bowl in Boise ID.
That is a lot of pressure to put on this team that knows it has not been living up to the potential that many had placed upon the team. The string of injuries on the offensive has really curtailed the rushing game for the team. Sam Swank is still out for the fourth week in a row putting additional pressure on freshmen kicker Shane Popham though he did admirably against Duke last week. Still it was a missed field goal last year that gave the win to Virginia.
Virginia has been a team in flux as well this season in much the same way Wake has been. Really do not know which team will show up to play. But they have taken down some of the better teams in the ACC so they are not ot be taken lightly.
Let’s hope that Riley Skinner can mix up the attack well enough to keep the Caviliers off balance and also to throw a long ball or two.
