Custard on a warm spring evening

Went by the Kernel Kustard stand on Hanes Mall Blvd last evening. It is a place I have been meaning to go for quite a while but never gotten around to it. I have been hearing quite good things about it especially after a review by the Dinner Belle in the Journal. So with Andrea and Madeleine in two, we went there for the ice cream. Not just any ice cream but the real custardy kind. It was quite kind good with a smooth texture full of body and the waffle cone was done quite well. For good measure, I picked up a bag of popcorn, the caramel kind. It was as good as recommended. Sweet salty and warm, it was a perfect treat for later munching.

What intrigued me, though, to return was the hot dogs. From their description of thick sausauges topped with a variety of items if you wanted it Chicago style or any other way you like it all in a poppy seed bun, it certainly would make my day for I do love my hot dogs.

Kernel Kustards is definitely a place I would like to return to very soon.
